I am excited to be hosting my first guest blog/interview of Shiloh Walker. She is the author of many romance novels including paranormal and contemporary suspense. Her current release is
Broken, which I previously had the opportunity to review.
You can find my review here.
I would like to thank Shiloh for visiting with me and sharing her answers to my questions. She is always gracious and truly appreciates her readers.
1. Which of your books would you recommend new readers start with and why? It's going to depend on if they prefer contemporary romances or paranormal... if they prefer contemporary or romantic suspense, then, by all means, BROKEN, it's my latest release and although I didn't plan on writing that book, exactly, I think it turned out pretty well. For the paranormal reader, maybe HUNTER'S NEED or THROUGH THE VEIL.
2. If you could swap places with one of the characters in your books, who would you choose and why? *G* None of them...sorry. I'm happy with my life, just as it is. I've got a great husband and great kids. Wouldn't want to swap that out, especially with MY characters-have you seen some of the crap I put them through?
3. If you were to switch two of your characters with one-another into each of their respective books, who would you choose and why? I honestly don't know. I wouldn't swap the characters themselves around because they are with who they need to be with, although I might find it amusing to see how somebody like Eli (one of my Hunters) might deal with the world of the Veil series. Eli is something of a peacock. *G* I love him, but he's a peacock. I don't know if he could very well handle a world torn apart by war-might be amusing to watch. His heroine would probably be snickering at him
.
4. Have you read any new author works you would recommend to readers? Hmmm. New? Julie James is fairly new, I think, and I love her contemporaries. Rob Thurman isn't exactly new, but I love and adore her urban fantasy. Ilona Andrews, not new, but love her. Jeaniene Frost, not new, but relatively new to me-love her.
5. Have you traveled for research? Sometimes I'll travel if I'm doing a book in an area if I haven't been to-like THE MISSING was based in and around Gulf Shores, Alabama and we went down there so I could get a 'feel' for the area, so to speak. The same for HUNTER'S NEED-it was based in Alaska and I did go to Alaska, did some research there. It all kind of depends on the writer, though, I think.
6. Can you give a teaser for your current release or a line from an unpublished book? Sure... this is Broken, a scene where they were walking around a mall, an informal date, of sort.
“Doesn’t mean you can’t make her heart go pitter-pat.”
Quinn stopped in his tracks. Since she still had her arm hooked through his, she had to stop, too. Tipping her head back, she smiled up at him, watching as his brows drew together, as the blush spread across his tanned face.
“Pitter-pat?” he echoed.
“Yeah…you know, gets a little uneven, does a little racing, makes the blood rush…pitter-pat.”
She was messing with him, Quinn realized. It was written all over her expression—the gleam in her eyes, the wide grin on her face. Hell. He thought his heart was about start doing some of that pitter-pat shit. He wasn’t used to people teasing him—other than Luke, and maybe Jeb on occasion, it wasn’t something people did. Not with him.
Reaching up, he caught Sara’s chin in her face. Pressing his thumb against her lower lip, he said gruffly, “I’d be a lot more interested if it was your heart that was doing the pitter-pat thing.” Then he replaced his thumb with his mouth, kissing her quick and light.
Pulling away after two seconds took a hell of a lot of control. But he did it. As they started walking down the mall corridor, Sara sighed. He slid his hand down and caught hers. She twined their fingers and then glanced up at him. “Don’t worry, Quinn. You make my heart do that pitter-pat thing quite a bit.”
7. What do the words "Intense Whisper" inspire you to envision? Hmmm... makes me wonder what's being whispered. I'm nosy.
8. You are alone, in a dark alley and see a shadow. As the heroine what do you do? I've spent quite a few years taking martial arts and one thing that's drilled into the head is self-awareness. Unless I had a reason for being in a dark alley, it's not likely I'd been in one. But if I am in one? I'm going to do what I normally do-remain aware of my surroundings... and without running, get out of the alley.
9. This question is for one of your characters. What do you think about Shiloh Walker? She's a pain in the ass.
10. And reverse roles... ask me a question you have wanted to know about a reader! Why in the world do you read this (meaning mine) stuff????
I love reading all kinds of stuff! Including your stuff Shiloh *G*. Reading allows me to imagine an alternative reality and escape from life. I love experiencing the adventures characters have and living in their shoes if only for a bit. I am amazed every day at the creativity and dedication authors put into their books. People who do not read stuff like you and other authors write are the ones I do not get.
