Are you ready for Fall? Are you ready for Halloween?
Has the magic of the season inspired you?
When I see my son reach his arms into the clear
blue sky and dance in the falling leaves I am inspired.
When I see my daughter cuddle in her fleece jacket with
too big hood and matching purple gloves I am inspired.
I am inspired by the dancing leaves on the wind and
the echoing howl of gusts through newly bare limbs.
I love to see the small creatures of the earth gathering and nesting.
Perparing for a colder time. A harsher time. They are inspired.
I am thrilled for the energy of Halloween.
For young childrens' glee and the bounty of generosity.
I cannot wait for the pre-holiday gift buying and the glow
of contentment when all of the bargains are conquered.
I have been inspired. I am inspired.
So I will share some inspiration with you!

Denise Robbins Guest Post and Contest
I am so excited to welcome Denise Robbins to my blog today! She is without a doubt of of the most down-to-earth and entertaining authors I have read as well as networked with. As part of her Never Tempt Danger Tour I requested a very special interview between two of my favorite characters. Charley a human intelligence specialist from Connect the Dots puts Maureen (Gilly) a robotics genius with a special gift from from Never Tempt Danger on the hot seat.
So without further ado lets join our heroines for some fun...
Dressed in a calf-length skirt and silk top, Charley stepped into the Irish pub and paused. She spotted the fiery red hair and knew she found Maureen Gillman AKA Gilly. With a small box tucked under one arm and her bag over the other, Charley strolled, if you called shuffling in a pencil-cut skirt and spike heels strolling, to the bar and set the package on it in front of Maureen.
“Hello, Charley,” she said and turned glittering green Irish eyes on her. “So you’ve come to interrogate me and this is a peace offering?” Gilly asked with a lifted brow.
Charley chuckled. “Hardly. Like that would work with you.”
Gilly bobbed her head then slid off the stool and embraced Charley in a quick hug. “It’s been too long.”
“Agree with that.”
“You want to do this at a table or does the bar work for you?”
Charley shrugged. “Whichever is more comfortable for you?”
Before she could answer the wooden door to the kitchen slammed open and Maureen’s grandfather shoved through the door. “Charley me girl!” Despite his old age, Frank Gillman could give a bear hug that would squeeze the life out of the squeezee.
“Pops, put Charley back on her feet.”
When her spiked heels touched wood again, Charley leaned in and gave Gilly’s grandfather and the owner of the Irish pub a kiss on his cheek. “So nice to see you Mr. Gillman.” His cheeks flushed and when Charley glanced over at Gilly she rolled her eyes and grinned.
“Oh, call me Pops. She does.” He waved a bony finger at his granddaughter. “Now, what can I get you?” he asked as he moved back behind the bar.
“I’ll have whatever Maureen is having.”
“A Guinness and stew.”
Pops poured her a pint of Guinness then went off to the kitchen. Charley pulled up a stool at the end of the bar and sat and without a word she reached into her bag and pulled out pen and paper.
“You’re taking notes?” A shiver of apprehension trickled up Gilly’s spine. Did she really want someone prying into her life, her gift/curse, into her? She shoved at her red hair and when it spang back she blew at it in frustration.
Charley set her pen on the pad and glanced up at her. “What? Do I scare you that much?”
Gilly’s spine snapped taught and she straightened on the wooden stool. “I’m not afraid.” Much, she thought.
“Good. Now open the box.” Charley shoved it closer.
Gilly eased the lid open then flipped it all the way back when she saw what was inside and gave a roar of laughter. “Pizza! You brought me pizza.”
“Not just any pizza,” Charley said grinning. “The best pizza according to the man who made it himself.”
“Waldo’s pizza,” she murmured with reverence. “Forget that Bowl of Irish, Pops!” Maureen yelled to the kitchen. “We’ve got Hot and Sassy pizza.”
Gilly started to slide off the stool. “I’ll get us some utensils.”
“Are you kidding me?” Charley reached across the mahogany wood bar, snatched up a handful of napkins and slapped them down next to the box. “That’s all the utensils we need,” she said and went in for a slice.
“I like your style,” Gilly told Charley and followed her example and slid a slice of pizza on a napkin. At the first bite of pepperoni, prosciutto, feta cheese, green olives, and jalapenos, her mouth hummed in delight and her stomach growled in appreciation.
“Waldo must love you if he made a pizza for you to bring here and share with me.”
“He’s my pseudo father,” Charley answered with her mouth full and picked up her pen. “So what’s with the green lace panties?”
Guinness spewed out of Gilly’s mouth and nose. “What?” she asked in mortification as she swiped a napkin across her face and then wiped up the bar.
Charley chuckled and Gilly narrowed her gaze at her co-worker and friend, a former CIA human-intelligence specialist.
“So? Why green lace?”
She felt the heat crawl up her neck and murmured, “I’ll kill him.”
“Who?” Charley asked with the sweet voice of an innocent. Gilly knew better.
“Lucas. He told you.”
“Told me what?”
“About the green lace panties he gave me as a gift and how I modeled them for him and of course how he maneuvered me out of them.”
Charley’s pen scribbled across the pen in rapid, jerky movements.
“Are you really writing that down?”
“Hm?” she answered without looking up.
“Are you really writing down how Lucas made love to me with the green panties tied around my wrists as if they were handcuffs?”
Her pen paused over the paper, and Charley’s lifted her head. Beneath arched brows her blue eyes glittered. “Do tell.”
Maureen’s mouth dropped open, closed, and then opened again. A soft moan escaped her lips before she spoke. “Lucas didn’t tell you that part did he?”
“Nope, but you did. Remind me to ask for more details after a few more beers.” Charley tilted her glass to her lips and drank.
Gilly took another bit of her pizza and ordered herself to clam up.
“Read my mind.”
She placed her slice of pizza back on the bar and stared blank-faced at her friend. This she could handle. “I don’t read minds.”
Charley’s lips curved up at one corner. “Okay.”
Gilly glared straight back at her friend, didn’t flinch, didn’t squirm. Nothing.
“Let’s talk about your robot. What did you name him?”
“DANGR. Lucas thinks I named him after him, but the truth is his name is an acronym for Defense Air Naval Ground Robot.”
“Cool,” Charley whispered as she scribbled. “What does the robot do?”
Gilly lifted and dropped her shoulders. “He can do anything. He can go in water, go airborne, shift to get real skinny or small in order to get into narrow spaces, and he can even crawl up stairs or buildings.”
“He does this because?”
Gilly leaned in and lowered her voice. “DANGR was built to morph into various shapes so it could go into the military theatre and help our troops by delivering payloads in places that our guys couldn’t come close to without detection.”
“And he morphs by responding to brainwaves?”
“Yes.” She slapped a hand over her mouth and tried to bite her tongue. As soon as the word was out of her mouth she wished she could reel it back in. Charley was too damn good at her job. The answer just slipped out.
“Can DANGR respond to just anyone’s brainwaves?”
Gilly tugged on the collar of her shirt. Was it just her or had the pub just gotten hotter?
“How come you didn’t know before it was too late that your partner was going to die?”
“I don’t know.” The tug of guilt in her heart had her rubbing at her chest.
“When did you get the vision?”
“An instant before he died.” Gilly’s head snapped up. Her green eyes went wide in disbelief at the same time they shot daggers at Charley’s pompous grin. “Bitch,” she muttered without true malice.
Charley reached out and slid her hand over hers. “We’re friends. I don’t think you’re a freak. I think you have a very special gift.”
“Curse,” she stated flatly just as an image flashed in her mind. Then her tight lips curved up at the corners and a full grin crossed her mouth. “Boy or girl?” she asked.
“What?”
“Does Jake know?”
Charley jerked her hand back, dropped it in her lap, and stared at her. “How did you. . . I mean. . .Am I?”
Gilly bobbed her head and grinned. Now it was her turn to chuckle. “For once, I flummoxed the interrogator.”
“Oh! Oh my! Jake is going to have a heart attack.”
“You didn’t know?”
Charley shook her head and blonde hair spilled over her shoulders. “We wanted, hoped, but . . . “ She shook her head again then leaped off the bar stool and grabbed Gilly in a hug. “Gift, Gilly. You have a gift. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.” Charley kissed her cheek then stepped back and hooted.
The kitchen door swung open and slammed against the wall. “What’s all the racket about?” Pops demanded.
“Charley’s having a baby.”
Her 80-something year-old grandfather practically leapt over the bar, snatched Charley up from her chair, and wrapped her in a hug. When he leaned back, he eyed the half-empty glass of Guinness on the bar. “Tsk. Tsk.” He reached for the glass. “Milk, my dear. You need milk. Those twins need milk.”
Before he could walk away, Gilly grabbed her grandfather’s arm and planted a loud, sloppy kiss on his cheek. “You’re the best, Pops.” He gave her a wink then walked away to get the mother-to-be a large glass of milk. The man who had always been there for her, who half raised her, and who she inherited her gift from.
“Twins?” Charley screeched. “Did he say twins?”
Gilly slung an arm over her friend’s shoulder and grinned. “I sure hope Waldo is willing to make late night deliveries for those cravings.”
When Charley’s mouth opened and closed as if a fish, Gilly threw her head back and laughed. “Twins!”
Bravo, Denise. Spectacular. But I knew it would be. Thank you so much for guest posting.

Review: Never Tempt Danger
Never Tempt Danger
Denise Robbins
Special agent Lucas Danger knows Maureen Gillman better than any other man. Assigned to find Gilly and her military robot prototype, Lucas discovers that his past has caught up with him. When the woman he loves collides with his secretive past, Lucas has to open his mind as well as his heart to save Maureen. Who will get to her first?
I would venture to say that all readers have an author who they relay on for consistent and entertaining words. Denise Robbins is mine. Her books have become a familiar blanket, a cozy dream... my happy place. Her books are always filled with action, wit and romance. Feisty, independent heroines and hunky heroes. Add just a touch of techno awesomeness and you have the a Denise Robbins novel.
Never Tempt Danger was another great read. I was thrilled when I heard Denise had released her fourth book. I started reading it the day after it arrived. Not a single to-be-read dust speck fell on my copy. I was having a tough week and knew Denise would take me to a better place.
The heroine, Gilly, is full of life and fearlessness with a gift of precognition that she considers a curse. She is a beautifully written character with her own quips and imperfections which make her easy to relate to. She is running for both her "gift", love, life, and reality. As expected they all catch up with her and the impact is nothing less then amazing. I smiled, laughed, gasped, wiped a tear and growled at the villains. I loved stepping into Gilly's shoes if but for a moment.
In all of the Denise Robbins books I have read, the heroes are always tough, a bit rugged and completely helpless to the loves they find. I always enjoy watching as they struggle with themselves and stagger when reality hits. Lucas Danger is another such hero. He has all the swagger and gruffness one needs in a hot hero. Always doing the little things that are just right despite of himself.
I appreciate the writing of an author who truly puts all of her heart in her books and clearly enjoys her characters as much as her readers do. Thank you Denise for my escape once again into your world of suspense, romance, action and adventure. I cannot wait for Phish .NET Stalkings!
You can find our more about Denise Robbins and her books at her website: www.deniserobbins.com
I will also be posting a special guest post featuring Gilly and contest for Never Tempt Danger after this one! Come check it out!

Maureen thought her special gift was a curse. Maybe she’s right…
As the one man who accepted her “gift” slid the diamond ring onto her shaky finger, Maureen saw his death flash in her mind an instant before the bullet struck. With blood on her hands and a government research project in the balance, Maureen—Gilly—Gillman does the only smart thing she can. She disappears. If there was one thing Maureen had learned, it was Never Tempt Danger.

Robyn Maxwell doesn’t care that her brother has to cancel out on their backcountry ski trip. She can do it alone. The fact she’s deaf doesn’t make her survival skills any weaker. The chance to get away from it all and relax in the Yukon wilderness is just what she’s been craving.
Meeting wilderness guide Keil at the cabin starts cravings of another kind. Keil’s one hot hunk of ripped, tasty male. Now she has to deal with raging hormones as well as strange questions about wolves and mates and challenges to the death.
Keil was trying for a nice reflective retreat before challenging for the Alpha position of his Alaskan pack. He wasn’t planning on meeting the woman destined to be his mate, or finding out she’s not aware she has the genes of a wolf.
Between dealing with his accident-prone younger brother, a deaf mate with an attitude and an impending duel to the death, his week—and his bed—is suddenly full. Far from the relaxing getaway any of them had in mind...

Review: In Dreams Begin
In Dreams Begin
by Skyler White
From a Victorian Ireland of magic, poetry and rebellion, Ida Jameson, an amateur occultist, reaches out for power, but captures Laura Armstrong, a modern-day graphic artist instead. Now, for the man or demon she loves, each woman must span a bridge through Hell and across history . . . or destroy it.
"Every passionate man is linked with another age, historical or imaginary, where alone he finds images that rouse his energy." W. B. Yeats
Anchored in fact on both sides of history, Laura and Ida, modern rationalist and fin de sicle occultist, are linked from the moment Ida channels Laura into the body of celebrated beauty and Irish freedom-fighter Maud Gonne. When Laura falls--from an ocean and a hundred years away--passionately, Victorianly in love with the young poet W. B. Yeats, their love affair entwines with Irish history and weaves through Yeats's poetry until Ida discovers something she wants more than magic in the subterranean spaces in between.
With her Irish past threatening her orderly present and the man she loves in it, Laura and Yeats--the practical materialist and the poet magus--must find a way to make love last over time, in changing bodies, through modern damnation, and into the mythic past to link their pilgrim souls . . . or lose them forever. From Amazon
In Dreams Begin is a dance of emotion. Pain, ecstasy, intimacy, passion, fear, yearning and hope. Skyler weaves a fairytale unlike any I have read. Her poetic writing style flows form page to page in elegant verse. The book revolves around the characters and their deepest and sometimes darkest wishes. With highlights of sacrifice and selfishness.
The heroine, Laura, is a strong and independent soul struggling with the passions of her heart and the realities of life and love. She is cunning, brave and inspiring. She enters the story as strong as she leaves. It is hard to find fault with a character such as Laura. We really all could have been her or felt the way she does at some point. She is a walking conscience and honest to a fault.
I feel there were two heroes, Will and Amit. Will (W.B. Yeats) is her soul mate of the past and the type of historically wrapped character we all dream of waking too. Her husband Amit is strong, modern, masculine and absolutely the most patient and charming hero I have read. He is the kind of character that can only exist in fiction... faultless.
I would categorize this book as a classical drama, an opera of sorts. Filled with tragedy, emotion and maybe even overacting. Some of the characters are high strung, loud and overbearing. As they are meant to be. While others are soft, melancholy and content. There is a small touch of paranormal and historical romance. But just a touch. In my opinion, the book was more about reality then fantasy. More about waking then dreaming. Regardless of what "time" or place the character was waking into.
If you like books which are heavily character driven and filled with emotional highs and lows then this is the book for you.
I would love to share my ARC copy with another reviewer. Please leave a comment letting me know you are interested. If more then one person asks I will do a random drawing. USA only. The book will be officially released on Nov. 2nd, 2010.
This book was received from the publisher for a honest review. No compensation was given.

Private I with H.P. Mallory and Contest!
Thank you for coming in. We believe your character may be involved in suspicious activity. When and where is the last time you saw your character? I last saw Rand in the follow up book to Fire Burn, Toil and Trouble. He was in a fairy village, just a few days before the war with Bella was due to begin.
For the record, can you please say and spell your characters full name and any known aliases. Yes, my character’s name is Rand Balfour and he's a warlock in my Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble series.
Can you please give a brief description of your character? Rand is tall, dark and handsome. He has chocolate hair and deep brown eyes, an angular and well sculpted face with dimples and a cleft chin. Body wise, he’s about six two, broad shoulders and narrow waist and hips with long, muscular legs.
Do you have a recent picture of the subject? Rand can be shy in front of the camera so unfortunately I don’t.
What was the demeanor of the subject like when you last met? He was nervous about the war but insistent on getting a message to Jolie.
Have they been fraternizing with anyone new as of late? No, just preparing for the war with Odran, Sinjin, Trent and Jolie.
Do you know your character intimately? Pretty well although sometimes his decisions and actions surprise me.
We found this with your characters prints on it. Can you please tell me what it is? Hmm, that would be Rand’s SUV, a black Range Rover.
Is there anything else you think may be helpful? Rand was pretty perturbed with Sinjin about Sinjin’s interest in Jolie and Rand was worried Jolie might return Sinjin’s affections.
If we our associates have any further questions, where can you be found? Busily writing the final chapters of Rand and Jolie’s next book, Toil and Trouble. Website: http://www.urbanfantasynovels.com/
The dark figure slowy turns in her chair and extends a taloned hand in parting.
"Thank you for your cooperation."
"Thank you for your cooperation."
As the author turns to leave, a pile of folders of the desk can be seen through the rolling smoke. Each stamped as containing confidential information for the Office of Fictional Unaccounted for Characters, also known as O.F.U.C.
We are offering a two rewards for any information leading to the apprehension of this character. TWO WINNERS! One commenter will win the ebook Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble (Rand's story) and one will win the ebook To Kill A Warlock! All you need to do to make one of these books yours is comment on this post! Contest ends October 29th at Midnight CST. This contest is international!

Just Released: Never Tempt Danger
NEVER TEMPT DANGER by Denise RobbinsISBN: 978-1-60318-260-7 | Excerpt
Maureen thought her special gift was a curse. Maybe she’s right…
As the one man who accepted her “gift” slid the diamond ring onto her shaky finger, Maureen saw his death flash in her mind an instant before the bullet struck. With blood on her hands and a government research project in the balance, Maureen—Gilly—Gillman does the only smart thing she can. She disappears. If there was one thing Maureen had learned, it was Never Tempt Danger.
I love Denise Robbins techno-suspense-romance books! In my opinion she is in a genre all by herself. I have Never Tempt Danger on the way and will be posting a review as soon as I can. I have also read and reviewed her first book It Happens in Threes and the third book Connect the Dots. I have her second book Killer Bunny Hill on my shelf to read. Some of the characters cross over, but each book is written to stand alone.
Check out her books and let Denise know that Intense sent you *g*. On October 6, 2010 you can join Denise and Nora LeDuc at Borders Books in Concord, NH! Be the first to get a copy of NEVER TEMPT DANGER!

Duel Review: Dark Time and Sacrifice
Dark Time (Mortal Path Book 1)
by Dakota Banks
In the 17th century, a woman is ripped from her husband's arms, thrown in jail, and then set afire as a witch. Saved from the flames by an ancient Sumerian demon, she becomes the Black Ghost, his Ageless assassin gifted with otherworldly skills and superbly trained in martial arts. Centuries pass before Maliha Crayne finds a way out of the life she hates. If she achieves a balance between lives taken and lives saved, she'll break the demon's hold on her. If she fails, she will suffer the demon's torment ... forever.
From Dakota Bank's Website
Dark Time was a locomotive for me. The story is immediately engrossing and all encompassing. Dakota describes the world Maliha lives in with rich detail and flourish. Her emotional struggle and pain tore at my heart. The book starts slowly and builds intensity and speed. It drew me into the characters and their lives. The last third of the book was full of adrenaline and passion. Think of the thrill of going up the hill of a roller coaster knowing the plummet to come. This was how the book felt to me. I waited in anticipation of the drop, for the speed and the excitement.
The heroine Maliha is more humane than most people I know. She is driven and behaves like a predator yet still exudes compassion and empathy. She is forgivable because she is believable. The secondary characters are fascinating in their own right. Each one with a unique past and gift. Dakota weaves the characters tales together seamlessly without loosing the story. The world building is incredible and exotic. From farms to cities, both old and new, Dark Time allows readers to adventure and explore with Maliha in a real world filled with history and beauty.
I would not consider this book a love story in any fashion. There is a mere glimpse of romance. But happily ever after is far, far away for Maliha. Dark Time is about small victories and redemption. It is about the ties that bind and those that do not. As I mentioned, it took a bit for the speed of the book to get going but once finished I could not wait to get started on Sacrifice.
Sacrifce (Mortal Path Book 2)
by Dakota Banks
A Sumerian demon's enslaved executioner--a ravager of lives and souls--Maliha Crayne has been reborn, willing to sacrifice her immortality for a chance at freedom... and salvation.
Now she has an opportunity to prevent the death of thousands to help balance the countless lives she has obliterated over the centuries. To do so, she must locate and destroy an evil cabal of madmen in possession of a weapon of unspeakable power--and survive the immortal assassins who are now after her blood. But it means reverting to the old ways and surrendering once more to the darkness. And if Maliha dies before the mission is accomplished, the hell she once knew will seem like a picnic compared to the eternal torments awaiting her.
From Dakota Bank's Website
Starting just two months after Dark Time ends, Sacrifice felt more like a continuing chapter then a new book. This time around the book starts at full speed, at the pinnacle of the roller coaster, if you will. If I had to describe Sacrifice in one word it would be "more". More characters, more adventure, more action, more Maliha and more fun. Of the two books this was my favorite because I got to enjoy the ride.
The settings are phenomenally extraordinary. I never imagined I would enjoy reading about some of the lands that Dakota wrote into this book. From one end of the earth to the next I was enthralled. Literally going from land to jungle to sea and back again. Each place described with just enough detail for the imagination to easily fill in the little details.
In Sacrifice, Maliha is even more of a force to be reckoned with. This book is all about action. Imagine Indiana Jones as an assassin, a really hot female one *winks*, in a Mission Impossible story line. You will not blink while reading this book. If reading could invoke weight loss, this book would do it. From start to finish I was running with Maliha and she can run really FAST *g*.
Like Dark Time, Sacrifice is not a romance and it should not have been. Maliha is still struggling with her mortality and "life" choices. Hers is not a life easily shared. She has such a futile grasp on her own existence that commitments are not taken lightly. I hope that love comes into her life more fully in future books. Sacrifice set the stage and started warming her character up if only a little. Love or not I look forward to the next adventure.
This book can stand alone as Dakota does takes the time to explain the characters and their backgrounds and does a fine job of it without previous readers agonizing over a long retelling. That being said, I would still highly recommend reading both books together to get a greater appreciation and feel for the characters and story.
I received Sacrifice for review from Dakota. There was no monetary or otherwise compensation for this review. I had the first book personally owned on my self and wanted to read both books together.

Contest: A Safe Harbor by Moira Rogers
Find out how it all began...
During the bite of the Great Depression, sole female dominant Joan Fuller struggles against the rise of cruelty among her alpha counterparts. The men tolerate her interference--until she breaks from the pack and allies with a witch and a vampire. Now the Boston alpha intends to bring them all forcibly back into the fold--and teach her a lesson she may not survive.
Seamus Whelan and his werewolf bootleggers intend to retire from smuggling and savor their fortune, but first they must do a favor for an old friend: escort some female wolves to safety. An easy job, if their leader wasn't a prim ex-debutante with enough power to challenge Seamus himself. Chance makes them allies; powerful need makes them lovers.
Together, they have the opportunity to build a sanctuary for their kind, but first they must free themselves from Joan's past, and the powerful man who would see her destroyed.
